Drogheda Wolves’ U12 Arctic Boys team clinched the Basketball Northern Ireland U12 Division 1 title thanks to this convincing win against under-strength Belfast Star.

Wolves were determined to deliver a dominant performance and clinch the silverware in style and from the tip-off they set the tone with their trademark fast-break basketball. The speed of Ciaran Teeling and Sean Owen caused havoc for Belfast Star as Wolves raced to a commanding 22-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.

The relentless pace and precision of their play left Star struggling to keep up and quarter two saw an equally impressive display, with Nehemiah Oluwabolwale leading a rock-solid defensive effort that stifled any attempts by the Belfast boys to get on the scoreboard.

Will Hallinan orchestrated the offense with excellent distribution, while Fionn Rogan showcased his scoring ability to extend the lead to an insurmountable 36-0 by half-time.

The second half continued in the same vein, with Wolves demonstrating their ability to work as a cohesive unit. Quick ball movement and intelligent spacing on the floor allowed them to create scoring opportunities at will and the team’s unselfish play was reflected in the balanced scoring, with Oscar Chimel, Hallinan, Teeling, Maijus Zuzevicius and Rogan all contributing 10 points each.

This victory not only secured the league title for Drogheda Wolves but also highlighted the depth of talent within the squad, with every player contributing to a performance that will be remembered as one of their finest of the season.
